I have elective, voluntary chills
my ears are likely no different to most people, but the recall, the remaking of sounds in my brain is likely to be unusual. just as we can all recognise sounds by the barest hints of the actual sound, it may be that my internal experience of music and sound is greatly influenced by the development of my ability in recognising and reconstructing sounds. so although the input through the ears is the same as most people, the interpretation of the input is different. this is as I expect it should be for everyone, just that we do not appreciate it. this may have bearing on why i can frisson at will — the interpretation can hook in to what is believed for most people to be an involuntary response.

well you done done me and you bet i felt it
i tried to be chill but you're so hot that i melted
i fell right through the cracks
now i'm trying to get back
before the cool done run out i'll be giving it my bestest
and nothing's going to stop me but divine intervention
i reckon it's again my turn / to win some or learn some
but i won't hesitate no more, no more
it cannot wait, i'm yours
well open up your mind and see like me
open up your plans and damn you're free
look into your heart and you'll find love love love love
listen to the music of the moment people dance and sing
we're just one big family
and it's our god-forsaken right to be loved loved love love
so i won't hesitate no more, no more
it cannot wait, i'm sure
there's no need to complicate / our time is short
this is our fate, i'm yours
d-d-do do you, but do you, d-d-do
but do you want to come on
scooch on over closer dear
and i will nibble your ear
i've been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror
and bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer
but my breath fogged up the glass
and so i drew a new face and i laughed
i guess what i be saying is there ain't no better reason
to rid yourself of vanities and just go with the seasons
it's what we aim to do / our name is our virtue
but i won't hesitate no more, no more
it cannot wait, i'm yours
open up your mind and see like me
(i won't hesitate)
open up your plans and damn you're free
(no more, no more)
look into your heart and you'll find that the sky is yours
(it cannot wait, i'm sure)
so please don't please don't, there's no need
(there's no need to complicate)
there's no need to complicate
(our time is short)
our time is short
(this is our fate)
this is, this is, this is our fate
i'm yours
oh, i'm yours
oh, i'm yours
oh, whoa, baby you believe i'm yours
you best believe, best believe i'm yours

there is no getting around the fact that anything that challenges their illusion of reality will be seen as a threat; that is part of the way threat is defined. so when friends reject what you know, because they see it as threat, don't take it as them rejecting you (even though it is); rather, they do not yet see a difference between what you know and who you are, so they are not rejecting you intentionally.
most people assume that who you are, how you behave, depends on what you know. to begin with, this might seem true, but as you learn beyond this assumption, you will find that what you know no longer determines who you are.
or maybe there are other "rules" that could describe how what we know shows who we are, but they are not the simple rules people mostly rely on; i don't know what those other rules are.
ordinarily i don't seem to think much about who i am. but i do register it when people reject me for what they think i am. maybe i don't think about it much because i no longer find it as useful a concept as i used to (i probably did find it useful for some time).

showing ability
we have abilities but don’t show them often; this is not shyness or modesty, it is a direct consequence of abilities that are diverse, and so not required often, abilities that are not easily understood, and so not appreciated when seen by others, abilities that are deal with rare situations, and these situations do not occur often.
doctors, dentists, scientists, people all rely on their general models of what people are like in order to interact with you. if you are very different from that model, they are unlikely to understand or appreciate you.
but that does not mean you should lose hope. there are people who will appreciate you, you just need to meet many more people before you might find them.
not appreciating people and nature for what they are and what they do, this is the heart of our civilisational error.
people do not appreciate what they have when they do not understand what they have
if people don't think you are important enough for their consideration, they are mistaken, but that does not mean their actions do not affect your opportunities. but how you react to their abuse is within your control. i wasted twenty years trying to reform civilisation, one person at a time. now i understand that we need to create a new one, which everyone can join if they really want to.
because we learn many more different kinds of things than most people, we cannot expect them to understand our learning process — for example, that many skills will be at a level “inferior” to specialised skills for a long while, simply because they are not yet needed, but once they are assigned priority, we can ramp them up, that is “improve” them, much more rapidly than most people; not because of some “genius ability” but simply by the way we choose to do things.
